Shoppers can collect their online orders without leaving their cars. The service is part of a pilot project in the Rewe Region West and aims to make shopping more convenient for customers\u2019 daily lives. On top of a further Rewe Store in Hachenburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, the service is scheduled to open at Rewe Center in Alfter later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Shoppers place their orders as usual via the Rewe online store or the app. After selecting a time slot, customers drive to a covered drive-through lane at the store, scan a QR code on site and check in using their name. Store employees are automatically notified and bring the groceries directly to the vehicle. Payment is made cashless from the car. The service is free for purchases of 70 Euros or more, for amounts below that, a fee of two Euros applies.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Rewe&#8217;s existing collection service, Drive&amp;Go eliminates the need to visit the store. The pilot programme aims to integrate digital and in-store offerings more closely and create additional usage scenarios. According to Rewe, customers who shop both online and in-store increase their sales by around 30 per cent in the long term. Last year, the retailer opened 2,000 traditional collection points.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Twelve-month evaluation period<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWe view Drive&amp;Go as another strategic online channel within our diverse e-food division, which already offers customers highly successful services through its delivery and pickup options,\u201d says Clemens Bauer, Director of Rewe E-Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>Over a twelve-month period, Rewe plans to gather insights into customer acceptance, satisfaction, processes and technical workflows.
