Phoenix McCabe’s Pharmacy automates forecasting and replenishment with Slimstock

Irish McCabes Pharmacy (formerly Lloyds Pharmacy), which belongs to the Phoenix Group, is implementing Slimstock’s AI-based planning software Slim4. The company uses the platform to centralise and automate demand planning, ordering and replenishment for its more than 80 pharmacies in the country.

McCabes Pharmacy is part of German Phoenix Group. The pharmaceutical wholesale company operates more than 3,300 of its own pharmacies in 17 European countries. In 2023, the company took over the 32 McCabes locations and is merging them with the Lloyds Pharmacy outlets – that already belonged to the group – under the new joint McCabes Pharmacy brand.

Using the Slimstock platform, the pharmacy operator aims to optimise stock levels and relieve local employees of administrative tasks. “This will allow our pharmacy teams to dedicate more time to what matters most: supporting the local communities we serve,” explains Jan-Pieter Hallema, Managing Director at McCabes Pharmacy.

Planning tool controls processes with AI

The Slim4 platform integrates business processes such as demand planning, inventory optimisation, assortment management and delivery planning to enable better control over the entire supply chain. The tool uses artificial intelligence for planning, which considers information from the entire company for better decision-making. In addition to its web-based interface, users can also operate the software via mobile app.

The solution promises greater transparency on processes along the supply chain. It can be used to balance stocks across locations, increase product availability and reduce supply chain costs. This should minimise risks of excess stock and waste of expired medicines.
