Flying Tiger Copenhagen rolls out Scan&Go with Mishipay in UK

Shoppers at all Flying Tiger Copenhagen stores in the UK will be able to scan and pay via Mishipay app. The Danish non-food discounter had already successfully tested self-scanning with customers’ smartphone at its 30 outlets in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

With Mishipay, customers can use their smartphone to scan their purchases. In doing so, they receive extensive information on products scanned and available special offers. Shoppers can always keep track of their spending and pay cashless for their goods directly in the app without waiting at the checkout.

Mishipay also works without an app

Unlike many other Scan&Go solutions, customers do not necessarily have to download the Mishipay app before shopping. The system also works via browser on the customer’s device. For this, they simply have to scan a QR code and can then use all shopping and payment functions online.

Customers rate the system positively. They gave the Scan&Go application an average of 4.74 out of 5 possible stars. Flying Tiger Copenhagen reports that 100,000 customers had shopped with Mishipay in the first phase of the deployment. CEO Martin Jermiin confirms that the company was able to increase not only customer experience but also store efficiency. Scan&Go users left the shops with on average 35% higher shopping baskets. In addition, store employees have real-time access to information on shopping behaviour and extensive analytics.

Mishipay’s Scan&Go technology is also used by grocery retailers Spar and Eroski, duty-free group Dufry, French home improvement retailer Leroy Merlin and lifestyle retailer Muji from Japan. Swiss software house Instore Solutions, specialised in innovative store technologies, is implementing Mishipay technology in the DACH region. Co-founder and COO Matthias Ernst explains that the application can be integrated into existing loyalty programmes within a few weeks using a software development kit.
