Jysk moves Europe wide into the cloud with Vusion

Danish furniture retailer Jysk is significantly expanding its partnership with Vusion. By 2027, the provider of AI-powered digitalisation solutions is supposed to equip a total of 2,500 Jysk stores across Europe with electronic shelf labels featuring the latest cloud-based technology. The company will also migrate its existing local installations to the Vusion Cloud.

Jysk expects the move to the cloud platform to deliver faster deployment cycles, improved performance and greater flexibility. Carsten Nørgreen Weinkouff, Executive Vice President of Retail Development, Marketing, E-commerce & Omnichannel at JYSK, explains: “As part of the ongoing modernisation of our stores across Europe, we are investing in solutions that will offer us greater scalability, operational efficiency and flexibility for the future.” He expects the move to an advanced cloud-based platform to deliver significant added value.

As a first step, the family-run company will upgrade 450 Jysk stores in the Nordic countries that are already equipped with electronic shelf labels to the latest Vusion technology. The retailer is migrating its previously local platform entirely to Vusion Cloud. In addition, the company will initially equip a further 750 stores across Europe with the solutions. By 2027, the roll-out is set to be expanded to a total of 2,500 stores in Northern Europe, the DACH region and the Benelux countries.

Architecture supports future innovations

Vusion is pursuing a strategy of driving the transition of its existing customer base to cloud-native solutions. The move to a scalable and centralised platform is intended to support uniform handling of business processes across all sales outlets and reduce complexity of its infrastructure. This should enable future innovations to be rolled out more efficiently and quickly.

Using technologies such as computer vision and AI-powered analytics, the manufacturer promises to deliver solutions for real-time shelf monitoring that enables the retailers to optimise shelf availability and further automate stock management. Through digital in-store retail media, retailers could engage with shoppers directly at the shelf and monitor performance of campaigns.

Long-standing partnership

Jysk has been working with Vusion for more than ten years. Already in 2016, the company rolled out electronic shelf labels and interactive colour e-paper displays – at that time still under the SES-Imagotag brand – initially to 320 stores across the Scandinavian countries. Those were already equipped with NFC technology and networked via Wi-Fi within a shared infrastructure.
