Aldi Süd orchestrates global supply chain with ONE AI
Aldi International Buying Asia has implemented AI-based logistics solution Intelligent Control Tower from specialist One Network Enterprises (ONE). The application runs in the cloud on the technology provider’s Digital Supply Chain Network and uses its NEO platform to utilise machine learning and intelligent software agents.
The Hong Kong-based Aldi Süd division is responsible for sourcing products from Asian countries and manages all global ocean freight logistics operations. With the move, the discounter aims to centrally control its global supply chain and thus achieve better transparency regarding costs and goods movements.
Fritz Walleczek, Managing Director of Aldi International Buying Asia, is confident that the solution can handle the complexity of the discounter’s supply chain. The company chose ONE Control Tower for its versatility and ability to manage freight end-to-end throughout the logistics process. ”This will greatly improve effectiveness in collaborating with our suppliers and being more responsive to our customers“, he explains in the technology provider’s press release.
Standardised data model creates transparency
The Intelligent Control Tower combines tools for planning and executing logistics processes and assists users with artificial intelligence. The platform enables Aldi Süd to integrate its global network of logistics partners using a standardised data model. This allows the company to plan, execute and monitor its business processes with an unlimited number of trade partners in real time. Aldi Süd expects to minimise manual processes and reduce freight and warehousing costs.
