Extra Shop rolls out digital labels from Vusion in its stores

Belgian non-food retailer Extra Shop is digitally transforming its stores and will be using Vusion’s platform and electronic shelf labels in the future. With the company’s decision to introduce the solutions in 40 of its stores, the number of Belgian retailers using Vusion has risen to a total of 1,700. The installation will be carried out by Vusion’s partner Proximus NXT.

Extra Shop will implement Vusion’s platform across the board and equip all stores with electronic shelf labels (ESLs). The aim is to improve both the shopping experience for customers and the working environment for employees.

Digital labels enable retailers to highlight specific campaigns and product information, as well as display price and promotional information in real time and depending on location. This allows customers to receive relevant information directly at the shelf and enables promotions to be implemented more precisely.

Geolocation and LEDs

For employees, the ESLs also provide additional support for restocking processes. Integrated LEDs and geolocation functions make it easier to find products, which speeds up processes and increases productivity. Another component is the seamless integration of the Vusion platform into Extra Shop’s existing Cisco Meraki wireless infrastructure to enable faster rollouts.

“We are thrilled to partner with Vusion to bring advanced digital solutions to our stores,” says Laurent Vanden Brande, Head of Supply Chain and IT at Extra Shop: “This collaboration will not only enhance our operational efficiency, but also keep our employees motivated and enthusiastic about improving the shopping experience for our customers.”

Belgian retailers rely on Vusion

According to Vanden Brande, the decisive factors in the decision were both the performance of the solutions and Vusion’s leadership in the areas of AI and data in retail. Vusion also sees the project as a strategically important step: “This new recent partnership further highlights the pioneering state-of-mind shown by retailers in, but also the relevance of this country for our strategy in Europe,” explains Sébastian Fourcy, SEVP EMEA at Vusion.

In addition to Extra Shop, numerous retail companies of various formats in Belgium already use Vusion’s solution, including Colruyt, Okay, Proximus Shops, Mediamarkt, and Jysk. The Vusion platform is based on IoT, cloud, data, computer vision, and AI technologies and helps retailers increase their operational efficiency, reduce costs and waste, and implement more sustainable business models.
