Mäurer & Wirtz optimises its product content management with Bayard

Mäurer & Wirtz is working with Bayard on implementing an intelligent Product Information Management (PIM) system that will enable the company to aggregate product information from different sources and manage it efficiently. The manufacturer of branded fragrances such as 4711, Les Destinations, Tabac und Betty Barclay will use this system to provide the retailers with quality-checked product content tailored to their requirements.

The new PIM system will serve Mäurer & Wirtz as a single source of truth for all product content and will also provide the retailers with media assets such as images in the desired format. The new solution will be directly connected to the perfume manufacturer’s SAP system, eliminating data silos in favour of a unified system.

With the new, consistent solution for product content management, Mäurer & Wirtz will minimise error-prone manual processes and provide its product data in a quality-checked and complete form in line with the individual requirements of retailers. The perfume manufacturer will also supply retailers with data from the system via the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN).

Bayard’s expertise in product content management

Project manager Harald Ripp, Head of Sales Management at Mäurer & Wirtz, is very satisfied with the support provided by Bayard’s team: “The experts at Bayard have a deep understanding of the requirements for product content management and are very familiar with our industry.” Other top companies in the beauty industry, such as Cosnova and Douglas, also rely on Bayard’s experience and technology.

“The partnership with Bayard and the implementation of a central PIM system are an expression of our commitment to innovation and quality,” explains Harald Ripp: “We want not only supply our retail partners with excellent products, but also provide them with first-class service with transparent, up-to-date and high-quality product information – tailored to every requirement profile.” The project is a milestone in the digital transformation of Mäurer & Wirtz and will also make the company’s internal processes more efficient.

Digitisation and increased process efficiency

With Bayard on board the project team, Harald Ripp is confident that the system will be up and running by autumn this year – around six months after the project start. He reports that the collaboration with the Cologne-based consultants has been very cooperative and efficient.

The new Product Information Management system will also help Mäurer & Wirtz to create largely automated item sheets with specific requirements in Excel format, which some retail companies still expect from their suppliers. The fact that the system manages product content for e-commerce, such as image data and marketing information, as well as content for brick-and-mortar retail represents a significant step forward for Mäurer & Wirtz in terms of digitisation and increasing the efficiency of the company’s processes.
