Maxeda DIY Group optimises sales forecast and orders with Blue Yonder

Dutch Maxeda DIY Group has transformed its sales forecast and order processes with solutions from Blue Yonder. Deploying cloud-based software for demand planning and fulfilment, the company has created a uniform planning environment for the supply chain of its three sales divisions. The project continues the long-standing collaboration with the US software provider.

The group operates more than 330 DIY stores in the Benelux countries. Stores in the Netherlands operate under the Praxis banner, stores in Belgium and Luxembourg are called Brico – 14 large-scale DIY stores in Belgium bear the name BricoPlanit.

The do-it-yourself market is highly competitive and presents major challenges with its shifting seasonal patterns and value-conscious consumers. The retail company was therefore looking for solutions that would lead to more integrated agile processes and better-informed decisions.

Integrated planning process increases product availability

With the help of Blue Yonder Professional Services, Maxeda DIY Group implemented solutions for demand planning and the supply of stores and online customers. The Blue Yonder platform utilises artificial intelligence and is provided as software-as-a-service via the cloud. The new solution provides the retailer an end-to-end view on products and categories across its three sales divisions. This has already led to higher product availability and fewer out-of-stocks.

Suppliers now also gain access to short and long-term stock visibility. Overall, the implementation has driven change management in the company, both in terms of the processes between the distribution centre and shops and in supplier relationships.
