Schwarz Digits closes alliance with Fujitsu
Schwarz Digits has entered into a strategic partnership with Fujitsu for sovereign digital infrastructures in Europe. Fujitsu’s hardware subsidiary, Fsas Technologies, plays a central role in the new alliance. In 2023, Fujitsu had already moved closer to Schwarz Group through its majority takeover of Lidl’s POS software supplier, GK Software.
Vivek Mahajan, CTO at Fujitsu, explicitly mentions GK Software in connection with the new alliance: “Together with Schwarz Digits, we are building on our established work in the retail sector through GK Software and offering customers direct access to Fujitsu’s latest innovations.” To this end, the companies are now planning joint feasibility studies, technical workflows and coordinated marketing activities.
Through this new strategic partnership, Schwarz Group and Fujitsu aim to pool their expertise in cloud technology, computing and IT infrastructure. Stackit, Schwarz Digits’ cloud platform, is set to form an integral part of the joint offering. With Stackit, Schwarz Digits brings a European cloud platform to the partnership. According to the company, the solution focuses on security, data protection and the storage of data in Europe. Fujitsu is contributing technology and industry expertise, as well as infrastructure expertise through its hardware subsidiary, Fsas Technologies.
Partners coordinate computing capacities
The companies intend to jointly plan annual cloud consumption, the required computing capacity and their investments in hardware. This is intended to create an infrastructure capable of scaling to meet customer demand and the requirements of future AI applications.
The joint offering is primarily aimed at companies with business-critical or data-intensive IT systems. The partners aim to offer them cloud, data, security, AI and infrastructure services from a single source. Furthermore, Fujitsu will advise customers on assessing risks to their digital sovereignty and prioritising appropriate measures.
Fujitsu promises access to Monaka
Vivek Mahajan, Fujitsu’s Chief Technology Officer, also cites the planned access to Fujitsu’s Monaka processor as part of the collaboration. Fujitsu is developing this processor technology for high-performance and energy-efficient computing environments. The partners aim to use it to create a broader technical foundation for digital applications and AI systems.
Christian Müller, CEO of Schwarz Digits, sees collaboration across the entire technological value chain as a path to greater digital sovereignty. At the same time, according to Fujitsu, the partnership supports the Group’s Management Vision 2035. This strategy combines digital services with sustainable growth and social objectives.
