Pan Oston acquires Swiss hardware provider 4POS

Following many years of cooperation, Dutch instore technology provider Pan Oston has taken over all shares of Swiss POS hardware specialist 4POS AG as of 1 December 2022. Both companies will nevertheless continue to serve the European market under their own brands and with their respective employees.

Lekkerland opens autonomous store Rewe Ready with Latebird

Lekkerland, in cooperation with energy supplier ENBW, opened the first fully automated unmanned container store named Rewe Ready end of September. The autonomous grocery store of the Rewe Group subsidiary is located at the EnBW fast charging park for electrical cars in Bispingen, Lower Saxony. The store's technology originates from Paderborn-based company Latebird.

Lidl brings self-checkouts with 4POS and GK to Germany

Lidl is now also introducing self-checkouts in Germany. With Swiss hardware specialist 4POS and its software supplier GK, Lidl is embarking on a platform strategy using the same standard components as at its attended checkouts. Cash payment is possible at all devices: thanks to cash recyclers from Glory.

Rewe tests Nahkauf Box with self-checkout from 4POS

In the Upper Franconian village of Pettstadt, Rewe Markt GmbH is piloting Josefs Nahkauf Box, a retail format with around 700 items for daily needs. On an area of 39 square metres, customers can independently scan goods at a self-checkout from 4POS and pay by debit or credit card seven days a week, around the clock.
