British Co-operative Group is replacing paper with electronic shelf labels (ESLs) from VusionGroup in all of its 2,400 stores across the UK. This marks the largest rollout of ESLs by a single retailer in the UK and Ireland.

The leading British retailer has been exploring electronic shelf labels for decades. But now Tesco is apparently really getting serious. In a proof-of-concept in selected Tesco Extra superstores and Tesco Express convenience stores with labels from VusionGroup and Hanshow, the company is evaluating their use.

British retail co-operative Central Co-op has implemented Retail Insight’s new Prompted Markdown feature. With the solution, Central Co-op can identify products near expiry, allowing the retailer to take action to minimise waste.
