Obi modernises its supplier management with Trade Beyond

DIY store operator Obi has chosen Trade Beyond to digitalise and optimise its supplier management and private label development. Obi plans to launch the first phase of Trade Beyond’s real-time data-based interoperable cloud solution, CBX-Suite, in the coming weeks. The technology is intended to help the DIY store operator to offer its products faster and more cost-effectively. The Trade Beyond platform is to be implemented at Obi step by step over the course of the year.

The supply chain solution CBX-Suite from Trade Beyond will optimise supplier management, order and quality management as well as the production processes of the sourcing organisation Obi Group Sourcing (OGS) in Asia.

Stricter ESG regulations across Europe, including the new German Supply Chain Act and the European Union’s impending Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, are demanding higher standards and stricter data collection from retailers than ever before. The complexity can only be overcome with innovative, end-to-end solutions, says Tim Chiu, Senior Vice President at Trade Beyond.

Making conventional processes more efficient

“We recognised early on that conventional supply chain processes are inefficient and no longer adequate to ensure the sustainable products our customers expect,” says Thorsten Bauer, Managing Director and Vice President Asia of Obi Group Sourcing: “We were impressed by Trade Beyond’s deep expertise in the complexities of global sourcing and the company’s strong presence in Asia.”
