Douglas modernises store processes with the help of CAS AG

Douglas has converted its store processes to the logic of its new centralised supply chain with the help of CAS AG. With the successful consolidation of its logistics processes across all distribution channels in a new, state-of-the-art central warehouse in Hamm, Europe’s leading beauty retailer has positioned itself for the future. CAS AG supported the beauty retailer in mapping the new store processes in the SAP system environment.
With the expertise of CAS AG consultants, Douglas has succeeded in implementing the new store processes as part of its new ’One Warehouse, All Channels‘ (OWAC) central warehouse strategy on schedule and consistently with SAP technology. SAP Fiori apps, which the Hamburg-based SAP Retail specialists developed for the retail company, play a key role in store access to the merchandise management system.
“With the CAS AG team, we always have solution-oriented, highly competent experts on board with whom we can work together to create agile, high-quality solutions,” says Christian Saalborn, SAP In-House Consultant at the Douglas Group, where he is responsible for software development for store merchandise management.
New app for receiving goods
The focus of the conversion of store processes to supply from a new central warehouse, which began in 2022, was on receipt of goods in the stores. CAS AG developed a future-proof solution with the new app for goods receipt by employees. It enables user-friendly scanning of incoming goods as well as full control with individual counting in the event of suspected irregularities, without having to leave the SAP world technologically or the consistent mapping of stocks in SAP Retail. This solution provides real-time information in the central merchandise management system at all times, which is used for subsequent delivery and omnichannel processes, among other things.
CAS AG also efficiently supported Douglas in introducing new mobile devices for employees by developing generic Android apps. In 2023, the beauty retailer introduced Samsung smartphones as new mobile data collection devices, which Douglas can even use to take payments on the go. Using a SAP Fiori app developed with CAS AG, employees can now order fragrance samples from the central warehouse that were previously delivered to stores by suppliers. Last but not least, the SAP Retail specialists also provided Douglas with significant support in mapping the new returns process, which was introduced with the switch to delivery from the central warehouse, in the stores’ systems.
Douglas and CAS AG have been working together for a long time
Douglas has been working successfully with CAS AG for nine years. When the project started, the two companies were among the pioneers in mapping store processes in SAP Fiori apps and have consistently driven forward innovative ideas in store processes. Over the years, the beauty retailer has developed over 90 SAP Fiori apps with CAS AG, optimising them through continuous innovation and perfecting them through process management.
Douglas was able to realise significant efficiency gains by switching its store deliveries from a central warehouse. The fact that the necessary changes to the store systems were implemented on time and to a high standard is also to the credit of the consultants at CAS AG, who will continue to support the beauty retailer in the future in effectively mapping new innovations in the world of SAP technology.
