Aldi Süd brings Genpact on board for SAP megaproject

Aldi Süd has agreed a multi-year collaboration with professional services provider Genpact in the USA and Australia. In these countries, the discounter is piloting the introduction of its new, predominantly SAP-based technology landscape under the project name Ahead. In 2021, the discounter had to suspend the conversion in Austria and Germany after problems with the complex platform. Since then, the mega project has been driven forward in the USA.

Globally operating US professional services provider Genpact provides expertise in the areas of data science, technology and artificial intelligence as well as experience in the retail and consumer goods industry. Its clients include Zalando and Mondelez. Genpact is an SAP Gold Partner and employs more than 2,500 SAP consultants.

Aldi Süd is piloting its new SAP-based technology platform in the USA and Australia, which will be rolled out to all countries when successful. Genpact now promises to introduce the existing technology platforms more efficiently with an AI-first approach. This involves SAP S/4HANA as the central ERP system, the automation of procurement processes using SAP Business Network (formerly Ariba), Blackline’s financial accounting and the management of service processes on the Service Now platform.

Forecasting platform in the cloud

Genpact relies primarily on artificial intelligence, automation and analytics to design customer-centric operating processes and drive forward digitalisation of business processes. AI-based analysis of historical data combined with external market data will enable the retail company to react more quickly to market requirements. The service provider intends to automate supply and demand planning and provide forecasts via the cloud.

After assessing the current situation, the service provider wishes to optimise the company’s supply chain with existing building blocks and adapted to its individual needs. To this end, it plans to develop a transformation roadmap and introduce digital tools for virtual collaboration.
