Depot rolls out forecast-based quantity planning with CAS AG

Gries Deco Company, the retail company behind the Depot stores, has developed a user-friendly quantity planning tool using SAP technology with the help of CAS AG. The self-developed solution optimises the company’s merchandise management by providing its buyers with a high degree of transparency regarding stocks, sales, demand, and planned delivery times. With the support of CAS AG, the company has succeeded in developing a particularly user-friendly solution with SAP Fiori app technology based on the SAP UDF forecasting solution.

Before the introduction of the planning tool, the buyers at Gries Deco Company had to determine order quantities based on monthly updated and printed lists. The solution developed with the support of CAS AG now enables a daily updated view of the data. The inventories in the distribution centre and in the stores, as well as their sales, are also updated in real time. From SAP CAR’s demand forecasting module, Unified Demand Forecasts (SAP UDF), the system generates an order proposal for the buyers, who can modify it if necessary and create the order directly from the system.

“Our new scheduling tool will enable us to plan even more accurately, efficiently and cost-effectively in future, while significantly reducing the amount of manual work involved,” says Deniz Tekin, Head of Purchasing at Gries Deco Company.

Successful collaboration

The joint project between Gries Deco Company and CAS AG lasted a total of one year and was successfully completed in August 2023. The consulting firm also supported the Depot operator with the implementation of the graphic visualisation in the system. This is not the first time that CAS AG and the Gries Deco Company have worked together. In 2016, the consultancy firm also successfully supported the Depot operator with the introduction of the SAP omnichannel platform SAP CAR.
