Hy-Vee optimises in-store processes with VusionGroup solutions
Hy-Vee uses VusionGroup’s platform to digitise more than 230 of its stores. The retail company, which operates in nine Midwestern states, has implemented digital shelf labels and numerous other VusionGroup solutions to optimise the shopping experience for its customers. The technology enables Hy-Vee to update prices and product information in real time, minimise food waste and pick online orders faster.
Employees at the retailer’s stores using the VusionGroup platform can automatically update product prices and data instead of the labour-intensive process of printing and attaching paper price tags. The digital shelf labels make work much easier, allowing Hy-Vee employees to focus on other in-store tasks such as customer service, replenishment and merchandise management.
The US retail company also uses electronic shelf labels and the VusionCloud platform to automatically reduce prices for items with a short shelf life. Intra-day promotions can significantly reduce food waste. Hy-Vee customers experience a more sustainable shopping experience.
Flashing LED on shelf label facilitates order picking
When picking online orders, store employees are guided to the required products by flashing LEDs on electronic shelf labels. Using this feature, ordered items can be accurately identified and picked effectively. Hy-Vee customers benefit too, as picking errors are reduced.
“The partnership with VusionGroup helps us streamline many of our store operations and makes product labelling at the shelf much better for both our customers and our employees,” said Brian Young, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Hy-Vee. “The user-friendly technology, coupled with the sustainability benefits we have achieved, make VusionGroup’s tools a compelling solution for us.”
Walmart also relies on VusionGroup solutions
VusionGroup supports over 350 major retail companies in Europe, Asia and North America. Walmart, the powerful Hy-Vee competitor in the US market, recently announced its intention to accelerate the digitalisation of its stores with VusionGroup solutions. By 2026, the world’s largest retail company plans to install electronic shelf labels from the technology provider in 2,300 US stores, as reported by The Retail Optimiser.
