Rimi Baltics optimises listing decisions with Symphony AI

The grocery retailer Rimi Baltic, which is part of Swedish ICA Group, is now using the Symphony AI platform also to tailor assortment of its 308 stores precisely to the needs of its customers. The Baltic company has been using Symphony AI for store and shelf space optimisation since 2022 in order to increase the efficiency of its sales areas.

Symphony AI’s assortment optimisation uses AI and intelligent clustering. Its deployment is intended to reduce food waste and out-of-stocks. The solution uses artificial intelligence to analyse the value of each individual item. This analysis takes into account not only sales, volumes and margins, but also the customer perspective, including loyalty data and demand signals. The solution uses the data to create assortments customised to the available shelf space, increasing the retailer’s profit while increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

“Symphony AI is helping Rimi to build a more customer-driven and optimised assortment within the complex Baltic operations and across diverse store formats. With the new solution, we expect to establish smoother integrated end-to-end assortment and space-clustering processes, which allow us to achieve better business results,” says Maris Rannus, Commercial Excellence and Insights Director at Rimi Baltic.

Transformation programme of the ICA Group

In January 2019, the retailer already implemented Revionics’ price optimisation, which is now part of Aptos, as part of a group-wide transformation programme, as reported by The Retail Optimiser. The entire ICA Group is currently converting its decision-making to a more data-driven approach.
