British Co-operative Group is replacing paper with electronic shelf labels (ESLs) from VusionGroup in all of its 2,400 stores across the UK. This marks the largest rollout of ESLs by a single retailer in the UK and Ireland.

The leading British retailer has been exploring electronic shelf labels for decades. But now Tesco is apparently really getting serious. In a proof-of-concept in selected Tesco Extra superstores and Tesco Express convenience stores with labels from VusionGroup and Hanshow, the company is evaluating their use.

Scottish retail co-operative Scotmid has extended its contract with Retail Insight to use its cloud-based WasteInsight software to reduce food waste in its 185 convenience stores.
