Chronodrive optimises fresh replenishment with Relex

Chronodrive, a grocery e-commerce subsidiary of Auchan in France, has selected Relex Solutions to improve fresh category management and reduce fresh produce shrink across its standalone click&collect locations.

Grocery orders are prepared individually onsite using each pick-up location’s warehouses. This presents major challenges due to demand variability, short shelf lives and tight replenishment windows. Users of this retail channel place an exceptionally high emphasis on both product freshness and real-time availability.

Relex Store Operations was selected for its ability to automate ordering and inventory management across fresh categories. The platform generates SKU-level demand forecasts that take into account shelf life, seasonality and demand variability, helping balance freshness, availability and waste reduction.

Better forecasts, fresher produces

“As we rapidly scale up our home delivery offering, alongside our core click&collect business, we need increasingly accurate forecasts to ensure the right stock levels, fresh product availability, and the service excellence our customers expect from us,” points out Arnaud Boucher, Métiers Director at Chronodrive.

Since implementation, the retailer reported a double-digit fall in produce shrinkage while replenishment orders have become more closely aligned with customer demand. As part of its digital transformation push, Chronodrive has also started to deployed a solution from US-based Bamboo Rose to optimise promotions and near-expiration date markdowns last summer.
