Spar Austria has automated the entire goods receiving process at its reopened logistics centre in Graz with technology from Knapp. A fully automated pallet high-bay racking system optimises storage capacity at the site, which was expanded to 40,000 square metres over a two-year construction period.

Spar Austria relies on smart technology from specialist for facility management automation Loxone. Following successful test operations and installations at a Eurospar store in Tyrol and a Spar outlet in Mundefing, the retailer is rolling out the system to all new stores built and reopened this year, as well as its head office in Salzburg.

Spar Austria Group is putting more digitalisation to its stores by implementing VusionGroup’s four-colour electronic shelf labels (ESLs) across its network. The roll-out will enable the retail organisation to provide accurate, real-time product and price information at the shelves. Austrian Spar today launched an app that allows customers to use complex sales promotions in its stores without registering by name with the retailer.

Spar Austria has significantly expanded on its use of fully automated picking with Witron technology. The retail company has completed the fourth construction phase of its central warehouse in Wels and started full operation.

The umbrella organisation Spar International has signed a framework agreement selecting Relex as its preferred supplier for forecasting and replenishment, pricing, merchandising, space and shelf space optimisation.
