Rossmann offers digital receipts with Anybill and Combase

Rossmann has added a digital receipt function to its shopping app. To use it, customers need a Rossmann account. When customers scan the app at the checkout, it automatically saves an electronic receipt without having to activate the function separately.

The technology for the digital receipt comes from Anybill. The Regensburg-based start-up implemented it in close cooperation with Combase, the supplier of Rossmann’s checkout software and Anybill’s software partner.

With this initiative, the drugstore company not only wants to save paper, but is also taking a step further in digitalising its operations. The new function is intended to make the app even more attractive for customers, increase usage rates and motivate more shoppers to download the app.

Digital receipt shall increase attractivity of the app

“Our app is a key component for our customers – the digital receipt function will now make it even more attractive,” explains Petra Czora, Head of Marketing at Rossmann, adding: “Shifts between sales destinations should not be noticeable. With the digital receipt, implemented by Anybill, we are creating a smooth transition from physical retail to the digital world.”

Rossmann describes the app as a central pillar of the company’s omnichannel strategy. It states that around ten million users currently shop using the app every month. At the heart of the app are its coupons, several hundred thousand of which are redeemed every day in their stores or when shopping online. Customers can also use the app to shop online and have the goods delivered directly to their home or for collection at a store.

Customers gain an overview of all purchases

With the new function, customers can now view all their purchases in one place. They can also make returns easily and without a paper receipt at one of the sales outlets. The service can be used by Rossmann customers throughout Germany.

The retailer also gains valuable data with the application. Anybill promises to provide all relevant transaction data via its digital receipt in real-time, directly at the point of purchase, without the need for time-consuming integration into the POS system.
