Just a year after launching its own kiosk solution, Zebra Technologies has announced plans to acquire Elo Touch Solutions for 1.3 billion US-Dollars. This move will enable the company to meet the growing demand from retailers for larger in-store touchpoints to display product information and serve as platforms for Retail Media.

Rewe has been enabling its customers to pay with the retailer's app since this week. With the new Rewe Pay function, the supermarket operator of Rewe Group in Germany deduces the purchase amount from the shopper's current account by direct debit.

Natsu Foods has chosen Aiperia’s AI-based optimisation solution to supply retailers even more tailored to shoppers' demand with healthy sushi and convenience items from its own production. The Neuss-based company supplies over 1,200 stores – including retail outlets of the Rewe and Edeka groups.

Trigo is now also marketing its software as a loss prevention solution. The provider of scanless store technologies claims that using existing CCTV systems with AI, it can automatically detect discrepancies between picked up articles and those scanned.

Thalia is introducing the order management software from Fulfillmenttools as part of its Log2025 logistics strategy. Implementation partner for the project is Adesso. The book retailer aims to use the new platform to make its omnichannel processes more efficient and deliver online orders directly from its stores.

The convenience division of the Rewe Group, Lekkerland, is implementing VusionGroup’s solutions in its unmanned smart kiosks – mini stores with self-checkouts that are open around the clock. Following a successful pilot project in Düsseldorf, the rollout has been extended to smart kiosks throughout Germany.

Toom Baumarkt has opted for price optimisation software from Revionics. With the AI-based solution, DIY banner operation of Rewe Group wants to improve price perception and thus promote customer loyalty and growth.

MC Sonae has opened a large scanless supermarket in Leiria, Portugal. The 1,200-square-metre Continente Bom Dia store uses more than 1,600 cameras and 2,000 scales and AI from Sensei to track purchases, as well as refrigeration technology from Jordao.

Lekkerland has opened its first railway station store in Koblenz. The unmanned smart store works with technology from Reckon.ai. The Rewe subsidiary sees great potential for cashierless stores at railway stations and airports.

Rewe Group's subsidiary Lekkerland has opened a first Rewe Ready store at the EnBW fast charging park near the Kamen motorway junction with AiFi technology. For two other Rewe Ready locations, Lekkerland is relying on technology from Latebird and on smart fridges from the Portuguese specialist Reckon.ai.
