Edeka Jäger tests 24/7 operation with Diebold Nixdorf and Wanzl

Edeka Jäger at Stuttgart Airport allows customers to shop autonomously at night. Shoppers then gain access via a Wanzl card access system and pay cashless at self- checkouts from Diebold Nixdorf running POS software from GK. Owner Florian Jäger explained the project to The Retail Optimiser.

Deutsche Bahn opens checkout-free ministore with AiFi

At Berlin's Ostbahnhof station, DB Station&Service AG has opened a checkoutless store as a 24/7 ServiceStore with technology from Californian Grab&Go specialist AiFi. Cameras on the ceiling and sensors in the shelves of the 40 square metre store replace scanning completely. It is the first publicly accessible AiFi store in Germany.

Kaes opens self-checkout-only store with DRS and Wanzl

Retail company Georg Jos. Kaes has opened its first V-mini store without staffed checkouts in Kaufbeuren. Tegut tests mini format without staff presence with Wanzl, Snabble and Pan Oston

In a pilot store, Tegut is testing to sell an assortement of 800 articles around the clock. The subsidiary of Migros Zurich relies on solutions from Wanzl, Snabble and Pan Oston in its T-Box for access control, self-scanning, anti-theft protection and check-out. Further stores are planned for autumn.
