Them Consulting has acquired a 49 per cent stake in IAL Automation and Logistics. CAS AG continues to hold a majority stake in the specialist for SAP warehouse management systems. The three companies aim to pool their expertise in consultancy, implementation and support for SAP warehouse management solutions.
IAL founder Prof. Dr Arno Niemietz has sold his shares in the company, which he founded in 1992, to Them. He is now stepping down as a shareholder and from the management board. He will continue to support the company in an advisory capacity.
CAS AG, IAL Automation and Logistics, and Them Consulting cite the high demand for qualified consultancy partners as the reason for this move. The companies see this demand arising primarily from the transformation of existing SAP landscapes to SAP S/4HANA, including warehouse and logistics systems.
Them and IAL are targeting larger projects
Through this investment, the companies also aim to tackle more complex projects relating to SAP warehouse management systems. Them Consulting and IAL have made a name for themselves across various sectors as specialists in SAP logistics solutions, such as SAP S/4HANA Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), thanks to their expertise and high-quality project delivery.
Furthermore, the companies intend to offer greater support for warehouse management solutions that are already in place. Them Consulting and IAL cite Application Managed Services as well as second- and third-level support as key elements of this strategy, through which they aim to ensure the high availability of distribution centres.
End-to-end processes within SAP
CAS AG, which has a strong presence in the retail sector, acquired a majority stake in IAL in 2023. The Hamburg-based company has thus significantly expanded its expertise in warehouse and transport systems. The merger has resulted in concrete new projects for both companies, as SAP users are increasingly seeking comprehensive, expert advice on ERP, merchandise management, warehouse management and transport solutions.

Them Consulting brings SAP EWM expertise
Them Consulting was founded in 2021 by experienced SAP EWM consultants. The Mannheim-based company supports clients from strategy through to implementation and, via partners, can also offer consultancy on warehouse technology, automation and intralogistics.
