Sainsbury’s wants real-time data with NCR Voyix Cloud
Sainsbury’s is expanding its collaboration with NCR Voyix. UK’s second largest retailer has therefore signed an additional contract to its 20-year business relationship with the POS hardware and software provider. Sainsbury’s will upgrade 22,500 checkouts in its grocery and convenience stores and petrol stations with the NCR Voyix commerce platform and the latest generation of point-of-sale solutions. NCR Voyix cloud technology enables the retailer to access real-time data and AI-powered analyses of its stores.
Through this, the retail company is supporting its Next Level business strategy. With this initiative, Sainsbury’s aims to gain market share in the grocery sector, strengthen customer loyalty through an improved loyalty platform and increase the efficiency of its stores by investing in technology. The retailer is committed to saving one billion British pounds and significantly increasing free cash flow by March 2027.
Using the NCR Voyix cloud platform, Sainsbury’s will be able to access real-time data and generate AI-based sales analyses. The technology also helps the retailer to better predict future store performance and staff productivity, as well as make cash management forecasts.
Self-checkout at the speed of a digital channel
NCR Voyix’s cloud platform will enable the retailer’s store staff to authorise customer transactions at self-checkout remotely via tablets. This will speed up the in-store payment process and improves shopping experiences for customers. In future, customers of the retail company can be shown personalised offers tailored to their shopping behaviour at the self-checkout terminals.
“With our software-first approach, Sainsbury’s can quickly implement changes at a much lower cost, running services in the cloud while operating self-checkout in-store at the speed of a digital channel,” explains Eric Schoch, Executive Vice President and President of Retail at NCR Voyix.
Competitor Asda has completed POS renewal with NCR Voyix
Asda has successfully implemented the new POS software from NCR Voyix (as reported in The Retail Optimiser). The UK’s third-largest retailer has upgraded the software at around 17,000 checkouts, replaced hardware components at around 6,000 of its checkouts and also put around 30,000 new Zebra handheld scanners into operation for customer self-scanning.
