Tesco plans to install payment and fuel dispenser technology from Vontier at its more than 700 petrol stations. To this end, the British retail market leader will use solutions from Vontier’s subsidiaries, Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Invenco. Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s fuel dispenser controller is designed to work alongside networked outdoor payment terminals and Invenco applications.
The integrated system is designed to process payments directly at the petrol pump and at the checkout. The DOMS PSS 5000 Forecourt Controller connects the forecourt technology to Tesco’s POS system and software. This enables the retailer to receive operational data from all areas of the petrol station in real time.
The modular hardware and software architecture is designed to enable Tesco to scale the solution across its entire network of stores. The system is also intended to streamline processes and speed up payments. It is also designed to offer customers a more seamless shopping experience.
Vontier brings together technology for mobility

Invenco is already installed in 50,000 convenience stores
Gilbarco Veeder-Root supplies petrol pumps, tank gauging systems, petrol station control systems and fleet management solutions, among other things. Invenco develops point-of-sale and payment systems, automates locations and provides cloud services for petrol stations and convenience stores. According to the company, Invenco technology runs on almost 165,000 connected devices in over 50,000 convenience stores across more than 50 countries.
Vontier cites the convenience store operator 7-Eleven and the energy companies Shell and ExxonMobil as long-standing customers of Gilbarco Veeder-Root. Invenco also lists Chevron as a customer.
