Retail companies highly value the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in supply chain optimisation. But there are some hurdles. This is shown by a study conducted by EHI Retail Institute on behalf of retail software specialist Relex.

US-based product master data platform Salsify is taking over its French competitor Alkemics. The companies did not comment on the terms of the takeover. Both offer cloud-based platforms for collaboration between retailers and their suppliers and are each registered as data pools of the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN).

A nine-member independent jury has selected this year's winners of the Reta Awards on behalf of the EHI Retail Institute. Winners in five categories include retail companies such as E.Leclerc, Edeka, Fressnapf, Ikea, Rewe, Salling Group and Tegut.

Hagebau goes into the cloud: With GK Software, Infor and Microsoft, the building materials and DIY group Hagebau is building its merchandise and workforce management as well as its store solutions completely on a Software-as-a-Service infrastructure. At the EHI Technology Days, other retailers also report on their plans to use cloud solutions for core applications of their business.
