After a three-year pilot project with the company Cooler Screens, US retail giant Kroger has decided to equip 500 of its stores with these digital doors on refrigerated cabinets. These run, among other things, advertising content from brand manufacturers, which 'Kroger Precision Marketing' of the retail company's in-house market research platform 84.51° serves up.

Kroger will be the first customer to introduce BrightDrop's electronic trolley, which can be used for both in-store picking and as a pick-up station for goods ordered online. The second largest US grocery retailer has already tested the trolley as part of a pilot project in Lexington and Versailles in the US state of Kentucky.

Danish Salling Group is testing digital shopping trolleys from the New Zealand start-up Imagr in five stores of its discount banner operation Netto. The retail company is the first in Europe which uses the solution of this provider. The vision recognition-based identification of the products is linked in real time with shoppers’ smartphones.

US grocer Kroger is expanding its home delivery test operation with self-driving vehicles in Houston, Texas. For this, it will use the latest generation of electric, driverless vehicles from specialist Nuro.

The US-American retailer Heinen's opts for a contactless salad preparation robot in times of government hygiene measures. The supermarket operator is now rolling out the machine, named Sally from Californian start-up Chowbotics, in its stores.
