Despite the growing number of competitors in the market for POS hardware, the largest global vendors HP, NCR, Toshiba and also Diebold Nixdorf were able to defend their market shares steady in 2022, with NCR even growing by two percentage points.

Maxima is expanding its fleet of self-checkouts in the Baltics. The retail company agreed on a framework contract with Norwegian manufacturer Strongpoint, which is to install at least 1,000 systems within three years. Maxima had previously purchased self-checkouts from Diebold Nixdorf.

In its new convenience format Quartier, Tegut is piloting self-scanning in combination with stationary self-checkouts on a new technological basis. For the first time, Tegut is using the software from GK. The self-scanning apps for both formats were developed by Aracom.
