Rewe is expanding the reach of its delivery service to 1.6 million households in the Ruhr region with a new Food Fulfilment Centre (FFC) in the city of Bochum. The distribution centre, which relies largely on manual processing, supports employees with pick-to-light technology during order picking.

Following many years of cooperation, Dutch instore technology provider Pan Oston has taken over all shares of Swiss POS hardware specialist 4POS AG as of 1 December 2022. Both companies will nevertheless continue to serve the European market under their own brands and with their respective employees.

Lekkerland, in cooperation with energy supplier ENBW, opened the first fully automated unmanned container store named Rewe Ready end of September. The autonomous grocery store of the Rewe Group subsidiary is located at the EnBW fast charging park for electrical cars in Bispingen, Lower Saxony. The store's technology originates from Paderborn-based company Latebird.

Polish convenience store leader Żabka is rapidly pushing ahead with the expansion of cashierless stores. While large retail chains such as Aldi Nord and Süd, Carrefour, Edeka's Netto, Tesco and Rewe are testing checkout-free stores at individual locations in Europe, Żabka Group has already opened fifty stores of its AI-based banner line Żabka Nono in Poland.

Aldi Nord has opened its Trigo technology-equipped store in Utrecht, the Netherlands, to everyone. As part of a pilot project, Rewe Group in Germany offers shoppers extended information on origin and production stages for selected products of its Rewe Bio private label range. The company is using the F-Trace platform from GS1 Germany for this purpose.

Rewe Group has equipped a significantly larger supermarket in Berlin with Trigo's scanless technology. Soon, all customers in the reopened supermarket in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg district will be able to shop without having their goods scanned. In June 2021, Rewe Group had participated in the financing of Trigo.
